I was defending someone who had their comment removed from [email protected] for saying the governments of both Palestine and Israel had failed their people. Someone replied with

Leave it to a .world liberal piece of shit to rules lawyer in defense of a fascist collaborator

    and later

Not in a community for the oppressed people, you fuckwit. Just from your comment I can tell you’re a white liberal male who has never had to deal with any sort of discrimination or oppression. Get the fuck out of here with that centrist “both sides” bullshit. You disgust me.

I wasn’t even being provocative or anything, so the personal attacks seemed out of nowhere. The only “rules lawyering” I did was saying criticizing a country’s leadership isn’t racism. And the so-called “fascist collaborator” spent more time criticizing the Israeli government than Palestine’s.

I was called a transphobe and gatekeeper by Ada for having the gall to say maybe the users on her space who were talking about fucking dragons or shitting in litter boxes were trolls and weren’t deserving of an instance wide rule change to force people to respect trolls.

    I’m trans btw -_-

I hesitate to even approach the subject because I have no strong opinions on the matter … Every time Israel comes up in discussion, somebody accuses me of being part of some army of jewish trolls? Really, I have no point, no agenda. These folks are reactionary and freak out. Happened again last week.

(Really, I hope all those people sort things out. I’m on the other side of the world, and have no opinion.)

You wouldn’t be attacked any more or less. There are bomb throwers on all sides of that discussion. (And again, I know jack shit about the issues, and have no agenda.)

I once got called a capitalist shill for pointing out someone should have used the prominently displayed deals when ordering pizza online instead if ignoring them and paying full price.

Like this is their homepage page, you have to be doing things deliberately wrong to be paying $40 bucks when the things you want are $15

I tore into someone about how I don’t respect economics (specifically, micro and macro that they push like a religion) because it’s constantly disproven.

And for how they treat you like a child and tell you “you just don’t understand economics” whenever you point out a contradiction, which they obviously then proceeded to do several times instead of answering any of my points

So after that, they apparently went through my old posts to try to poke holes in my other arguments - it wasn’t until the third or fourth one when I realized it was the same username, which I found deeply funny

I still don’t know what I did, but I made someone mad enough to go through my history and downvote. Fuk, I love the attention and conflict. Unfortunately, I think they’ve given up. It was fun while it lasted.

I got banned from the ai generated mushroom community for saying that ai art isn’t real art (I wasn’t in that community it was under a post criticising ai)

I think I remember seeing in a YPTB thread that a mod running several niche AI subs was preemptively banning people from their suite if they saw them express anti-AI sentiment elsewhere. So you probably weren’t the only one banned from that post.

Lemmy is only better than reddit in that it was designed to work around the fact that humans can be shitty, even if they were previously not shitty, so a platform that can spread authority around rather than consolidate it in the hands of a few will offer alternative options even if an admin or team of admins becomes shitty.

It means that Lemmy has the potential to be more extreme in any direction as much as it has the potential to be less extreme in any direction. No one can dictate what all of Lemmy is but anyone can dictate what small pieces of it are.

What’s the #1 most butthurt response you’ve had on here?

    Average moderator’s response usually fits.

LOL. Yeah. I remember one saying that they didn’t have any power to handle the comment sections and that I didn’t understand how hard it was just to have to delete bot comments, so it wasn’t their job to keep it civil.

Want the power and responsibility but why did it have to come with responsibility, right?

  • Someone called me a fascist because I found it amusing that AI did all these weird workarounds to do math and arrive at the wrong answer, because apparently that user also does weird workarounds to do math and come up with the wrong answer and took it personally.
