Yeah, the Greenland stuff will seem like a distraction all the way up until the day he announces the invasion.

Don’t sleep on that shit, this man does not make jokes.

Trump throws out all sorts of bullshit as trial balloons. If he gets too much pushback from conservatives or his advisors convince him it’s a bad idea, then it was just a joke to troll the libs, and Democrats are stupid for taking it seriously. If conservatives like the idea, then he does it, no matter how illegal or unconstitutional it is.

Trump is Schrodinger’s asshole. Every stupid vicious idea he suggests is simultaneously a joke and dead serious. It’s exhausting.

Maybe one day alphabet soup people will learn that everyone is entitled to their own opinions?

The constant preaching of “pride” and “acceptance” pushed more people away than it gained.

The opinion OP is referring to: That LGBT+ people shouldnt exist.

Your opinion sucks and should be not be treated with respect. If that ‘pushes people away’ then theyre shitty people who can’t accept the rights of others and are beyond reasoning with.

I’m sorry - what strategy finally got us gay marriage?

In case you didn’t realize, it hasn’t even been legal for 10 years. For real. It will have been legal for 10 years 2 months from now.

I want you to explain to me how hiding and not talking about it was going to make it happen. Go on. Let’s hear it.

I’m sorry - what strategy finally got us gay marriage?

Gay marriage is presently legal in the US at a federal level due to a Supreme Court ruling, not a law. It seems inevitable that this will change given the present makeup of the court, similar to abortion.

I am all for LGBTQ rights, but until something is passed by Congress the current situation seems precarious.

Who said it was about a law?

The whole point was that queer people were out and loud and demanding to be seen.

You’re talking about a completely different issue.

Yeah, then you guys did it for… how many years afterwards?

it hasn’t even been legal for 10 years.

So… 9ish years of preaching? I’d say around the 5 year mark is when it started to get annoying, add that 4 years and then it deliberately gets blocked from the feed.

Do you object to seeing cishet husbands and wives on the street holding hands? Couples kissing in movies and shows?

You’re just a bigot. These people aren’t doing anything to you. They’re just living their lives like you and me.

Believe it or not, I am with you. It’s so annoying to listen to people’s stories and hear their difficulties in an empathetic way.

I wish we didn’t need to hear about it every waking second for people to get it through their skulls that people can live different lives and it doesn’t hurt anyone. Talking about it all the time, the pride parades, the talks about acceptance is all transitional. Once there is widespread acceptance in general, there will be no need for that sort of thing, as they would no longer be an oppressed group. Then you will hear about it as often as people bring up Jesus, or sportsball or anything else that people devote their entire personality to in a really annoying way.

Me, a liberal: “You need to understand that gender and ethnicity and religious tradition naturally divide us. But we can overcome all that with meritocracy. If we just stack rank everyone, we can skim the cream and anyone who works hard enough can join the professional class.”

Also me, still a liberal: “Yeah, we’re just firing all the women, the non-Europeans, and any out LGBTQ faculty member from the organization because we need to comply with new Anti-DEI rules. No, I don’t see what that has to do with their economic position or social standing in society. Maybe they all should have just worked harder.”

Absolutely nobody is against Christmas. Even people who don’t like Christmas are cool with others celebrating it. Like 90% of people who say “Happy Holidays” celebrate Christmas. But the right wing confuses inclusion of others with an attack on the majority.

To be fair, there’s are way too many people who freak out if you put your tree up “too soon” or take it down “too late” for their personal taste. These may be the same people who worry about who’s sleeping with who, while none of affects them.

I mean I’m more against Christmas for the idea you need to buy gifts, and “you gotta be happy, its the one day a year to be happy!”

But I dislike that for every holiday, not because it involves Christ or anyone else.

The money supply now grows at 10% a year. People are okay with huge leverage into real estate because housing always goes up, as their currency always goes down. The farther you were born from the gold standard the poorer you will likely be.

The gold standard ended in America during the Great Depression, and deficit spending with a fiat currency helped end the problems Wall Street’s short sighted greed caused.

Inflationary policy has its problems but the vestigial remains you’re referring to ending in 1970 didn’t mean anything compared to the rise of neoliberalism itself.

Gold is fine if you’re expecting a collapse, or your government is run by fascist twats with direct financial incentive to inflate the national currency, but the end of the standard simply wasn’t the problem.

They excluded housing appreciation from the CPI in the late 80s, created 30 year loans, massive bailouts adding to moral hazard; I agree its neoliberalism, deregulating the money supply growth made people over leverage to profit off the cantillon effect, obviously leading to asset bubbles.
