Two failed bids is not even close to statistically significant when you consider the huge number of other factors at play in an election.

Sexism and racism seems like an obvious answer and one that it’s easy to find evidence for the existence of. But if you break it down a bit further, sexists and racists vote Republican anyway.
Glinner is the biggest argument I’ve seen against Death of the Author, because once you know you’re supposed to be laughing at the marginalised character and with the characters mistreating them, it’s impossible to find it funny.
There’s lots of examples of it too. The first time watching the theatre trip episode where a judge in drag opens the play, I’d read Roy’s discomfort with the show being “too gay” as a joke on Roy being out of his element; we were supposed to laugh at his discomfort. But on rewatching it’s hard to shake the idea that actually Roy’s defence of “I don’t want his sexuality rubbed in my face” is meant as something the audience is supposed to identify and agree with, and that far from being a knowing playful nudge at gay theatre the whole thing was a mean-spirited caricature of it. The meaning does get changed whether Roland Barthes likes it or not.
apologies for the pixels, I stole it from reddit
That anyone would have the fucking audacity to sell tickets to something billed as Fyre Festival 2, is now just standard 2025 worst timeline stuff.
The grifters have worn everyone down to where people just put up with appalling treatment and come back for more.
Can’t believe I had to scroll this far to find this. Looks like my school and yours were the only two in the world where it occurred to anyone that you can just superglue the door shut to stop the little shits from thieving them.
umm guys this isn’t a news article, it’s a Black Mirror episode
There’s been a hell of a lot of “we’re not at the stage…” in the last four months, that we then very much found ourselves at the stage of.
There’s mischaracterisations, and then there’s just flat-out lies. You’re telling the latter.
(also, the sheer fucking irony of naming yourself “libertyforever” while cheerleading a system of life imprisonment without trial)
A lot of people think of “venomous” as being a one-dimensional property like strength or speed that you have to build your way up towards. But really it’s just how this substance your body produces that reacts with another substance in another creature who evolved on a whole other continent to you.
There doesn’t need to be a strong evolutionary imperative to be able to kill a herd of elephants, it’s enough for there to not be a strong disincentive not to produce enough venom to do it.
Won’t happen. There’s long been a gap between what registered party members want and what those in charge actually do.
We saw the same thing in the UK a few years ago when Jeremy Corbyn got a huge swell of support from the party proper, but all the other Labour MPs collectively rounded on him and conspired to kick him out of the party altogether because he was going to put a stop to their gravy train.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that if the USD/CNY exchange rate fell in line with the two countries’ PPP, China would be biggest economy in the world by a margin of nearly 30%.
You’re correct, but are getting downvoted by people who treat the whole topic like they’re supporting a sports team.
This is a lot of mental gymnastics going on here. Reading John 6:10 and Mark 12:13 as “Jesus wouldn’t agree with Marx because Marx is of this world and Jesus is only about heaven” is a hell of a leap.
Your analysis would come off slightly less disingenuous if not for the fact that you’re a very active poster in the conservative groups and not once have you raised any objection to the religious right being neck-deep in the running of the country. Seems like “don’t co-opt Jesus to push your politics” only applies to leftists in your world.
If you think that replacing a person with an object cannot be an artistic choice
Literally nobody is saying or thinking that. What we are saying is that there is absolutely no way that OP’s prompt contained “…and make the optimist BE the glass itself…”.
The irony is that you’re giving OP way more benefit of the doubt in your reading of what they produced than you’ve given me, and instead argued against a complete strawman.
Yeah. Fascist criminals like Yaxley-Lennon in the UK cry about their free speech, and when you look at the cases it’s stuff like trying to intimidate juries, or inciting crowds to set fire to buildings containing asylum seekers.
There’s numbers for testing CC software.
You have my sympathies, but that still doesn’t mean you get to post complete nonsensical garbage where a glass of water is talking for no reason, that took you less effort to create than it did to read, and expect people to not tell you to jog on, when there’s a whole wealth of creative artists out there who are putting in the energy but getting their space flooded with slop.
The web has objectively become much, much worse in the past 12 months because quality is getting drowned out by quantity.
OP missed a trick here by not simply responding to every question with “fuck off”.
