I had someone react like that to a single sentence I wrote. One sentence, like, 10 words maybe.

Any form of highly restricted communication prevents meaningful discussions as it’s incapable of of capturing the complexity of most topics.

That’s why I’ve never used Twitter and only forum-like platforms, like Lemmy now.

Always boggled me to see people trying to post long write-ups on complicated topics on Twitter of all places.

Same here, even at its zenith I felt like Twitter was a bunch of popular kids making feel-good statements. Having discussions sorted by topic helps a lot too - we’re here to discuss Whatever Thing, not each other’s sins.

Like how education and understanding requires energy and communication and hate speech just requires simplistic headlines like 3 word slogans to grab attention?

These platforms draw the exact crowd it’s intended for.

Communicating whole ideas is elitist and fundamentally doomed to failure.

Because most people, especially the poors, are too dumb to understand them.

Instead, we, the people who know better, should manipulate the cattle into thinking and doing what we want them to.

Guy could use 3 iterations of painfully bad worded LLM prompts to get an almost correct summary, problem solved.
