Why the fuck do the police still use horses?

Are there still bandits in the wild west robbing steam trains?

As someone raised in LA I think this is the first time I’ve actually seen police on horses. Where in the protests did that particular one happen?

What have y’all been saying? World will never know because my comment had to be removed under ‘Rule 1’. What is rule 1? No fucking clue because this community does not have any listed rules. Nor did I get notified at all because Lemmy.ml seems to refuse any sort of basic common courtesy.

I keep forgetting just how redditor the administration/moderation of lemmy.ml is. Had no idea I was on a lemmy.ml community. If I knew that I never would have posted shit here in the first place.

Go ahead and ban me. Y’all already did a couple years ago and had to reverse course when users started openly questioning where all the content went. By all means. Go for it. Y’all can miss my content but I sure as shit won’t miss you admins.

??? No different than Russia? HAVE YOU READ THE HISTORY OF THE U.S.? THERE ISN’T EVEN A SIDE OF COMPARISON RUSSIA LOOKS LIKE THE LAND OF PEACE COMPARED TO THE U.S.

I suggest you read “Endless Holocausts: Mass Death in the History of the United States Empire”

[Video] LA cops force their horses to run over protester

If anything, it’s US cops learning from the cossacks, whom tsar always send against people when police was not enough. Running over unarmed people with horses was their favourite tactics.

From 1917to 1922 between 7-12 million Russians, mostly civilians, were killed. This includes hundreds of thousands of Jews killed in pogroms (genocidal race riots). The Red Terror involved Bolsheviks conducting executions to wipeout political dissent and any threats to their power. The White Terror involved a collection of conservatives, monarchists, and proto-fascists executing communists and genociding Jews. This doesn’t count people who died in forced labor camps, which by some accounts saw a 10-20% fatality rate per month. There were mass rapes and looting wherever the several armies went. It’s been described to be as close to Hell on Earth as it gets. Between WWI and the Russian Civil War, the total population fell from around 170 million to 134 million.

In the mind of the USAian liberal, this is also because of Russia. Things used to be great, but now they’re bad because the foreigners are controlling the president.

In the minds of anyone with a passing understanding of Russian foreign policy can absolutely see they have their hooks in Trump and you would have to have a significant deficit in logical thinking skills to believe otherwise. That being said that only accounts for some of the war, violence, and agitation the USA is involved in.

Not surprising at all, there’s been so many cop brutality incidents over the years. Off the top of my head, a cop broke the arm of an elderly woman with dementia and the cops laughed and joked about it. There was another case where the cops make a man crawl on floor before executing him. People don’t just become monsters overnight. They’ve been trained over the years to behave this way.

Bodycams are making a lot more of these available now too. Saw a brutal one where cops paralyze a handcuffed guy by breaking his neck, then they sit prop him up in a sitting position and complain that hes uncooperative because won’t move.

That was a year ago, the dude is dead and the cops got off scott free.

shout out to Loveland Colorado, one of the most overfunded police districts in the country. If you haven’t seen that video definitely look it up. It’s not even an altercation it’s literally just two dudes sitting and yukking it up while they torture a screaming geriatric woman.

The dogs are brain washed to attack.

A regular person training this viciousness into a dog would be called out, if not arrested (depending on the animal cruelty laws).

Idk. Police dogs are brutal. They’re regularly sicced onto black and Latino people to maul em and if they try to defend themselves they’re charged with assaulting an officer.

Dogs should at most be used to smell for bombs. The fact that they trust their owners so much that they’d be violent against whomever is precisely why the cops shouldn’t be allowed to have them, it’s animal abuse but even more importantly, it’s a huge vector for police brutality.

That was a lie. The ones who don’t like tyranny don’t like guns, and the ones who like guns don’t actually mind tyranny, so long as it hurts the right people.

You wouldn’t be alive to defend yourself in court. But not only that, US cops are extremely protected legally. If you put a hand on them that’s assaulting an officer and you’ll get prison time.

The arming was (and remains) mainly about keeping the US settler garrison empowered to carry out indigenous eviction, and keeping non-white populations under control. Not protecting from a tyrannical government.

You can see that when those groups did try to arm themselves, such as the Black panthers or the American Indian Movement, laws were passed and repression carried out to disarm them.

Highly recommend reading Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz - Loaded, the disarming history of the second amendment for more on this. You can find the audiobook on torrents.

Thanks for the reading recomendation, will look into it. Yeah, times of crisis are really fast destroyers of lies, such as that the ruling classes would allow the ruled to arm against them. If the propaganda meltdown was in turbo mode after israel started the genocide, a civil conflict inside the us will give it a spaceship engine

I always know that whenever some shit like this happens the first comments will be dumbass libs reveling in the violence. I’m sorry that you didn’t get to pretend it wasn’t happening (because your guy/gal did it) and could more comfortably stay in your armchair. But find a way to stay in the armchair you did, by reframing it as “well, I did my duty, not my fault! Bring out the guns and see if they learn their place!”.

      Fucking cowards.
